Is it possible to have a mental illness AND have hope?
If you’d asked me this question when I was 20, the answer would have been, ‘Heck no!’
Back then, I’d just been diagnosed with bipolar disorder I. Over the next five years, I had four manic episodes that required a stay in a hospital.
In the 16 years since then, I’ve stayed well — defined as preventing a relapse of mania or depression.
Because I know what works — and have tested it in the harshest fires of reality, including relationship breakdowns, homelessness, and the threat of violence — I’m confident teaching what I’ve learned about staying well to others.
I combine my lived experience with the latest scientific breakthroughs that show people how to stay well with bipolar.
While once I would never have hoped that I could live a fulfilling life with bipolar, now I have the certainty that I can teach others how to change the curse of a mental illness into a blessing.
